Local Television Show Links Chicago Sports Fans and Professional Athletes for a Good Cause

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) August 30, 2011

For many athletes, getting to the pros is the ultimate goal, but their journey and the work they do off the field is often where the real story lies.  On Tuesday, September 6th at 10:00 AM, Sports City Chicago (http://www.sportscitychicago.com), the city’s new sports-talk television show, premiers their live Chicago Sports Extravaganza on-stage at Hard Rock Cafe Chicago (http://www.hardrock.com/chicago).  Hosted by Emmy Award winner Mitch Robinson and Lauren Strec; Sports City Chicago takes fans behind the journey of Chicago Professional Athletes and their foundations; features the Sports City Chicago Girls, local bands and djs, as well as sports trivia and a chance to win prizes for show attendees.

In it’s previous incarnation which launched on the NBC Chicago Nonstop channel in July, Sport City Chicago has told the story of Chicago standouts Jerry Azumah, Jason McKie, Nick Roach, DJ. Moore, Rashied Davis and many others. Executive Producer and show creator Jason Groh states, “We are excited to bring the new show to Hard Rock Cafe Chicago where fans get up-close and personal with their favorite athletes.  We look past the stats and cliché sound bites. Instead, we focus on the athlete’s story and his or her work in the community.  It is a huge show with Chicago professional athletes, live music and local talent. A fun environment for Chicago sports fans of all ages.”

Sports City Chicago also brings fans and athletes together by streaming its broadcast live on UStream, where fans can interact with athletes during the show via chat and webcams.  According to Groh, “It has been fascinating to see the exchange at the end of the shows between the online audience and the athletes.  The biggest surprise to me is that other players often tend to be our biggest fans.  You never know who is online watching.”

In addition, Sports City Chicago teams up with various athlete foundations to bring attention to upcoming events. The show’s live taping is free and open to the public; however reservations are required. To make a reservation and find out about upcoming shows, contact Sports City Chicago through their website at http://www.sportscitychicago.com.
